Juma presented their line on Monday night in The Studio, a more intimate staging ground adjacent to the main runway. The New York based brother sister duo are known for their silk scarves, but they are now branching out into women’s and men’s clothing as well.
Batiked silks in muted earth tones were draped and layered to create beautiful, flowing dresses and tailored separates.
There were also a couple women’s looks done in this inventive striped fabric. A perfect balance of pattern and colour.
I wasn’t nearly as excited about these fancy man pyjamas, paired with boots that were ugly and too heavy.
And then this guy walked out. Too much! Take away the scarf and those damn boots and we’re getting somewhere.
I did appreciate their experimentation, however, and I love their fearless use of pattern.
